Originally from the dry regions of South Africa, the Dwarf Jade is a fleshy, soft, woody small tree great for beginners. This is a popular houseplant recognized for its fleshy, round bright green leaves. Jade is a low maintenance tree excellent bonsai for beginners.

Caring for Jade bonsai

Like all succulents, the Jade Plant is a hardy plant that can last a long time without water, but it grows best with moderate watering during the growing season (Spring and Summer). To find out if your Jade Plant is thirsty – dip your finger into the soil. If the soil is dry to the touch, it’s time to water. Water the soil thoroughly and wait for the water to drain through. Allow the soil to dry out before watering again. In the cooler months, your plant won’t need much water.

Good to know: In Autumn the dwarf jade produces small white flowers if it has endured some drought periods during the growth season.

Sun exposure

The Jade Plant grows well in part shade to full sun. If growing indoors, it can also tolerate medium light, but try to find a sunny spot; near or on a window sill.

Fertilizing

Once a month application is sufficient during growth season. Feed with a liquid form according to application instructions. It is important for the soil to be moist when the plant is fertilized. This eliminates the risk of root burn.
